'Clash of the Titans' Remake & Trailer

Anyone remember the old 'Clash of the Titans'? with all its claymation wonders? It's about time they did a remake of this movie and give it, well.. a little more umph!

It's amazing what effect can do, and how much intensity they bring. Simply put, this movie looks BAD ASS.

They story follows Perseus (for anyone readying Percy Jackson and the Olympian series, this is the guy Percy was named after) on his quest to rescue the princess Andromeda. On his journey is captures Pegasus, slays Medusa, and completes multiple tasks for the gods. oh the glory.

With these two movies coming out, it looks like Greek could become the new Vampire.. please? I'm a Twilight fan myself but c'mon.

If anyone has seen the old film from the 80s it seemed like everyone had that gorgeous curly hair that everyone associated with the Greeks. not this Perseus. They gave him a short buzzed hair cut which most definitely makes him look like a more imposing figure and not so much as a pretty boy.

Sam Worthington (recognize him from Terminator Salvation?) plays Perseus and Liam Neeson plays Zeus.

I'm really looking forward to the heavy use of Greek mythology in this film. A lot of films that that they have made in recent times (Gladiator, Troy, 300) have the slightest hint, but not what I would want to see.

Now all that is missing is another remake of 'Jason and the Argonaughts' and I will be a very happy camper. TV version was good... but I want a theatrical remake.

'Clash of the Titans' hits theaters on March 26, 2010.

Jurassic Park IV? yes please!

I heard rumors of there being a fourth installment to the franchise a few months ago. I was so excited, but when the rumors appeared to be false i was left extremely disappointed. Even though the second and third films were a little redundant: go to the island, realize it was a bad idea, run, scream, be eaten-- I couldn't really image a direction they could go in that didn't seem like the story was repeating itself.. again.

But, Ain't it Cool News got an exclusive interview with Joe Johnson, who directed 'Jurassic Park III' and  the upcoming 'Wolfman' from Universal.

I'm really hoping that this goes through. Jurassic Park is just one of those movies that blows my mind every time. I'd love to see it go in a different direction simply out of curiosity. But I would like to see some of the original characters. Perhaps the kids grown up?

What do you think?

Here is a piece of the interview with Joe Johnson and Harry (from ain't it cool news):

Harry: Speaking of JURASSIC PARK, are you thinking of heading into that fourth one after this?
Joe Johnston: Well, there is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it’s nothing like the first three. It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved.
Harry: Another movie about a group of people struggling to survive a dinosaur attack is…
Joe Johnston: We’ve done that and it’s been done three times and I figure it’s…
Harry: Stay away from that island. Don’t go there!
Joe Johnston: Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it’s sort of about studios and Steven’s thing and who knows. I think we are at that point where we are due for another one if we are going to do it. They had what four years between them? 1992… 1996 or 1997, and then 2001, so we are past due. I don’t know, but we will see.

'How To Train Your Dragon' trailer

Based on the book written by Cressida Cowell, 'How to Train Your Dragon' is about  a young heir to a Viking chiefdom who must hunt down the fiercest dragon in the land, but ends up with the smallest, most ornery dragon. Classic... go Dreamworks!

The dragon is adorable! To me, it almost looks cat-like... not a big fan of cats but its so cute that I can easily ignore that fact.

Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrara, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig and T.J. Miller voice the film. It is directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois.

I'm not really looking forward to the whole 3D thing. I really do prefer watching movies in 2D.

I loved 'Shrek' and 'Kung Fu Panda' so I'm excited to see how this movie does. I just love cheesy fantasy movies.. haha :)

'How to Train your Dragon' hits theaters (and IMAX) on March 26, 2010.

'Salt' Teaser Trailer

Another bad ass Angelina Joile film..? Count me in! And thank God she doesn't look like she is about to fall to pieces like she did in 'Wanted.'

The movie is being released by Columbia Pictures on July 23, 2010.

"Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. When she is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy, Salt goes on the run to clear her name and ultimately prove she is a patriot. Using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative, she must elude capture and protect her husband or the world's most powerful forces will erase any trace of her existence." - comingsoon.net

Risk: From Board Game to Film

I remember when I was in elementary school and trying to play this game. I even had a game app on my iPhone for awhile.. haha! Now it is to become a movie. Sony has gained the rights to make a film on the popular Parker Brothers/Hasbro game.

War movies are always interesting... I absolutely loved The Patriot! And like I said, films based on games are usually great... I haven't seen Clue in a long time though ;]

So, look forward to epic battles and global domination. An approximate date of release is still unknown.

Remember The Berenstain Bears?

So it looks like they are going to have their very own feature film. All I can say is  that I hope it's not as creepy as The Country Bears

From: comingsoon.net
"USA Today reports that Shawn Levy, director of the "Night at the Museum" movies, has signed on to produce a feature film based on The Berenstain Bears books.

The comedy will feature a mix of live-action and computer animation.

Walden Media, the company behind the "Chronicles of Narnia" films, has acquired the film rights. The popular books were written by by Jan and the late Stan Berenstain.

'I'd like the film to be un-ironic about its family connections but have a wry comedic sensibility that isn't oblivious to the fact that they're bears,' Levy said. 'The comedy comes from this bear family coexisting in a more recognizably real world.'

The earliest release date for the film would be late 2011."

Prince of Persia Trailer

I don't know what it is about movies based on video games.... but I love them! Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill... awesome :)

I'll admit that I have never played Prince of Persia, but I have always been curious. By the look of the game, you know this movie is going to be visually stunning. Plus, they got Jake Gyllenhaal to play the Prince.

It's being released by Walt Disney Films, which makes me hope it'll be along the same lines as Pirates (the Pirates films and Prince of Persia are Jerry Bruckheimer produced), and that they had a huge budget. Sounds very promising.

I'd have to say this is a must see. Don't miss it!

Here is a quick synopsis from comingsoon.net

"In the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced video game adaptation, opening May 28, a rogue prince (Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. "

Prince of Persia hits theaters May 28, 2010.

'This Is It' in Oscar race

"This Is It" is undoubtedly a success. It gives audiences a never before seen glimpse into the late Michael Jackson's life and preparation for his highly anticipated tour by the same name, This Is It.

According to USA Today Sony believes the movie is Oscar material, and possibly in the run for Best Picture.

"A spokeswoman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says that once the film completes a seven-day run, it will be eligible for consideration in sound and editing categories as well as best picture."

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. Michael Jackson is a legend, and being so, anything that involves him (especially now) is guaranteed success. I hope that the shock of his death doesn't propel this film so far that the documentary overshadows other large productions of the year.

What do you think?

"Twilight" Returns to Theaters

Summit Entertainment has announced that on the day before the theatrical release of New Moon, Twilight will be re-released in select theaters. Select theaters will also be offering tickets at a reduced price. This is a one day event.

Men in Black III now in preproduction

The third installment to the MIB franchise is official. According to Variety, Columbia has brought on Etan Cohen, the writer of Tropic Thunder to create the script.

"There are no deals in place for the franchise's stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, though it's unlikely that Col would greenlight the project without the duo's involvement." -- Well, I would hope so.

While I was a fan of the first film, the second film left me extremely disappointed and the idea of a third movie doesn't have me jumping out of my seat. However, bringing on Cohen for the project might just make things interesting. Filming should start sometime in early 2010.

I'm genuinely curious in what direction this movie is going in. While the characters themselves are great, I just can't think of another story as enticing as the first. Sorry. If the story is lacking, hopefully they can come up with some new bad ass guns. Ka-boom!

New Poster for The Lightning Thief

This is probably the one movie I am most excited about for early 2010. I've always had a special place in my heart for Greek mythology (yeah, i actually bought and read Bulfinch's Mythology for fun) so this is right up my alley. Based on the popular books written by Rick Riordan, this movie seems to hold the same promise of epic adventure as Harry Potter (hopefully). While the books are very reminiscent of the Harry Potter series, they are unique stories that hold their own bundle of twists and turns, so don't disregard this one! As long as you can get past the cheesy dialogue, I highly recommend reading these books, especially before the movie hits theaters on February 12, 2010.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is based on the first book out of the five book series.

New Trailer for Burton's Alice in Wonderland

A new trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was premiered on Spike. This one includes many more clips of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter (his makeup job is fantastic!!). This adaptation of the classic story is a great breath of fresh air. While Disney's cartoon was most definitely good fun, its strays from the dark side of the original classic.

With Tim Burton being the genius that he is, it looks like this movie was done beautifully.

This story of Alice takes place years after her first adventure. She is now about 17-19, and must return to Wonderland. But all the classic characters are there :) Which is good enough for me. Seeing Alice and a young woman, rather than a little girl is an interesting idea. It may seem a bit odd, since everyone knows Alice as a little girl, but I am really anxious to see this creative twist on whats on the other side of the looking glass. What do you think?

Arrives in theaters March 5, 2010.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

So.. It's been 10 years since Boondock Saints was released. It was one of the memorable movies that was great all on it's own. I never really expected a sequel (although it seems that everything has a sequel... or 5 *cough* Saw) but I'm glad that it's here. Who doesn't want to see some ass-kicking Irish boys protecting society in the name of God?

More good news, the first five minutes of the film has been released! (thanks @screencrave) While you can't tell with only five minutes, I am hoping that all Saints Day follows the same format as it predecessor. For those of you unfamiliar with the film, The Boondocks Saints would show events a little backwards.

For example: investigators would arrive a crime scene, which would be a little more than a bloody mess, and they would try and guess the events that took place, which leaves all of us with the question-- How the hell did that happen? Then the movie would go on to show us just how Connor and Murphy McManus did it, which wasn't always gracefully.

Either way, it seems that this movie holds as much promise as the first. Both Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus are back playing the McManus brothers.

The Film Bug

I've always had a special place in my heart for movies. There is just something about story telling that fascinates me. I may not have realized it at first, but after pursuing a major in film, it's undeniable-- I have caught the film bug.

I can't help watching all the newest trailers or researching the newest projects going on in the industry. And you know its bad when you hear about a movie that should be coming out in a few years, and you're excited for it to come out all those years (like The Hobbit or Disney's The Princess and the Frog!!!)

It's my dream to one day become a screen writer, but deep down inside, i'm just a fan...

This is for all the other fans out there ;)
